Breathing slowly, with intention — during pregnancy, birth, and as a new mumma — changes everything.

Deep, long, soothing, surrendering breaths.

Everything soft and relaxed.

The effect something so simple can have is profound.

Completely altering the state of the mind and body.

Calm & centred.

Quiet & still.

It takes focus to stay present with the breath.

To journey inwards so deep, to ride the waves, releasing and letting go with every breath.

It takes dedication to keep coming back each time we are distracted.

It’s a meditation that gets easier and easier as we practice.

We stay present for longer and longer.

It holds such an unbelievable power.

To stay trusting the unfolding of your journey, to allow the body to do what it is designed to do, away from the mind.

I’m going to explain a really simple breathing technique that is an absolute game-changer to use during your pregnancy, at your birth, and as a new mumma.

Sit, stand, or lie comfortably.

Relax your shoulders down.

Now take a deep long breath in through your nose.

Exhale out gently through your mouth.

Making sure your jaw is relaxed and your lips are soft.

Continue with this breath.

And as you breathe in, do so for as long as you comfortably can, breathing the breath up through your body.

As you exhale, let the breath simply trickle out through your lips.

As you inhale try to imagine something rising, like a sunrise, hot air balloon or clouds.

As you exhale, letting go of any fears, worries or anxieties you may have.

Continue this breath for x5/x10 breaths, gradually building up to 5/10 minutes.

Practice this daily.

Let me know in the comments how you get on and make sure you get my free audio download of this breath.
